Catherine Herling, LMFT
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy in both Pennsylvania and Delaware, having completed my Masters in Family Therapy with a focus in Medical Family Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University. In addition to DBT, I also like to implement Attachment Theory, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy when working with clients. In the past, I have worked for community-based agencies, assisting at-risk children and their families after experiencing hospitalization or incarceration.
Often, people feel lost and disconnected from others during transitions and need an opportunity to voice their experience in a safe space and learn/practice alternative methods of expressing their needs. If an individual discovers that a part of their identity includes being a member of the LGBTQ+ community, there is an even greater need for connection and support from loved ones in a safe space. I like to take a collaborative, strengths-based approach. By working with you in this manner, I aim to explore life patterns and themes with you and separate the helpful from the harmful in a supportive environment.
